Meet Our Therapy Horses

Dink

Dink, who is in his late twenties, came to make Butterfly Dreams his home in the Summer of 2006. Butterfly was to be his "retirement" from a lot of strenuous work, but he quiet enjoys his job as a hippotherapy pony and all the pampering he receives from his best friend Peggy. **Update: Dink has found his forever home with his new owner, Susan, and has retired from his job at Butterfly Dreams. He will still be able to give pony rides to little ones on occasion at his new home.**

Reba

Reba is a new addition to Butterfly Dreams. She was donated to our program in April 2009 by her owner JoAnn Bath. Reba is a wonderful addition to our program in that her personality and temperament is one of the best we've seen in a therapy horse. She loves her new job and the new children that she teaches. Reba has quickly become a favorite among riders and staff members too!

Classic

Classic is a quarter horse in is late teens. He was donated to Butterfly Dreams in the Winter of 2007 by his previous owner Patti McWorter who had done dressage with Classic for many years. He previously lived at High Point Farm in Watkinsville, Georgia and competed in many shows with his owner. Classic is now retired to Butterfly Dreams as a wonderful therapeutic riding horse. His walk and trot are so smooth that he can teach even the most beginner riders how wonderful horseback riding really is! We are very blessed to have Classic with us. **Update: Classic has now been retired from Butterfly Dreams as well and lives on a farm nearby in Watkinsville. He has gone back to his original owner, Patti, and still gives rides to brand new riders and is still the sweetest, happiest guy. He is very missed at Butterfly, but we know he has a great retirement home!**

Rosie

Rosie is a full arabian who is in her late twenties. She came to Butterfly Dreams in Spring of 2007 from Chris Pritchard and Greenbriar Creek Stables in Watkinsville, GA. She was used a lesson pony at her previous home and is now a beloved hippotherapy and therapeutic riding pony at Butterfly. She has a really slow gait that is wonderful for our hippotherapy riders and she also has a nice smooth trot and has taught many therapeutic riders how to trot for the first time! She is such a wonderful addition to our herd of therapy horses.

Shortey

Shortey is a new addition to our program as he made Butterfly Dreams his new home in Summer 2009. He is a Haflinger who is about 11 years old. Shortey is very smart and is continuing to learn about his new job as a therapy horse. He is very curious about all of his surroundings and enjoys new things. His owner is very much in love with him and brings new outfits that Shortey enjoys trying on for his riders! His favorite is a birthday outfit complete with a birthday crown and decorated saddle pad. The kids think it is great!

Merlin

Merlin is a 16.1 appendix gelding that moved to Butterfly Dreams just in time for Christmas 2009. He is a big, beautiful guy, with a puppy dog personality. Merlin had an extensive career in dressage and was trained up to 3rd level! He enjoyed traveling to dressage shows with his owner and his riders before coming to Butterfly. He is learning his new job and absolutely loves the people he is around. His favorite thing to do is kiss anyone and everyone on the cheek as if to say "Hello! Am I not the sweetest?!"
