Terrapin’s sixth annual Chili Cook-off on Friday, September 25 had a great turnout despite the dreary weather. Everyone was in great spirits—many people even went out of their way to help with our set-up.
Out of the thirteen nonprofits that competed, Oconee Regional Humane Society was awarded Best Chili Recipe. Though BDF didn’t win the competition, we had an amazing time. This event gave us an opportunity to spread our message and talk with many people about how they can get involved. As always, the free bumper stickers were a huge hit. It was encouraging to hear how many people knew of our mission, and we are very thankful to have had the opportunity to gain awareness with new members in the community. We would like to thank everyone who participated, and we hope we will have the chance to compete again next year.
If anyone would like the recipe for BDF’s vegetarian chili inspired by Cincinnati Skyline Chili, it can be found at: http://www.cooks.com/recipe/dm3zc0sk/skyline-chili-original-recipe.html. *We substituted the lean hamburger meat for Quorn Meat Crumbles (a 100 percent meat substitute).
