Since the program’s establishment in 2005, BDF has empowered over 250 children and adults from the local area. We remain committed to providing our services to all eligible riders, regardless of their finances. Although our riders come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, all are united by their search for happiness and healing. Our current population of riders includes those with special needs or other learning challenges, differences, or disabilities: medically fragile, foster, or at-risk youth, veterans, and those who need mental health and grief support.

Most of our students receive multiple forms of therapy. Unfortunately, families often find that insurance will only cover a portion of the associated expenses, which can place a family under unnecessary distress. We provide partial or full scholarships to students to ensure we can continue to provide consistent ongoing therapy.

Hippotherapy is more likely to receive partial insurance coverage since a licensed therapist performs the sessions. A month of hippotherapy sessions is $120/month for a full scholarship and $60/month for a partial scholarship.

A month of therapeutic riding lessons is $200/month for a full scholarship and $100/month for a partial scholarship

Whether you want to provide a single session, partial scholarship, full scholarship, or develop an ongoing sponsor relationship, we are always thankful for the support. Scholarship support is a tangible way you can directly help one or more of our incredible students.
